Heavy monsoon rains have thrown normal life out of gear in Jaipur, with several parts of the city facing severe waterlogging and traffic disruption. Continuous downpours over the past few days have exposed gaps in the city’s drainage system and left residents struggling to commute.
One of the most alarming developments was the appearance of a large sinkhole on a busy road, which forced authorities to halt traffic on the affected stretch. Local residents, however, have expressed frustration over the recurring problem of waterlogging every monsoon season. Many have pointed to poor drainage planning, encroachments and clogged nullahs as the root causes, and have called for long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes.
